Westfalen Partner with NanoSUN Following Successful Hydrogen Roadshow

NanoSUN Pioneer Hydrogen Refuelling Station

NanoSUN Limited is pleased to appoint energy sector technology company, Westfalen Group, as German distributor of its hydrogen refuelling stations, to deliver mobile refuelling for automotive hydrogen applications across Europe.

Following a successful summer roadshow of Pioneer demonstrations for a number of vehicle deployments across Germany, Westfalen Group has placed a significant order for NanoSUN’s mobile Pioneer Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS).

Westfalen is a leading operator of vehicle filling stations and a manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases, operating with numerous subsidiaries and associates with over 20 production sites located across Europe.

This year, Westfalen’s hydrogen roadshow showcased the flexibility of the Pioneer and the ability to rapidly deploy a hydrogen refuelling system across a number of different vehicle types and applications including hydrogen buses, hydrogen trucks, material handling equipment and passenger cars. This generated significant interest and market demand for the solution.

As a growing number of end user fleets look to switch to hydrogen fuel for zero emission operation, initial deployments are proving to be a challenge. Small path finder fleets running just a handful of vehicles, ahead of larger scale deployments, are unable to justify the cost of full fixed hydrogen refuelling stations.

NanoSUN’s mobile Pioneer Hydrogen Refuelling Station is a fully mobile, self-contained and automated hydrogen refuelling solution. The combined distribution and dispensing systems offer an affordable and flexible way of delivering hydrogen fuel to hydrogen consumers, where they provide storage and refuelling facilities, all in a single, re-fillable system, directly to hydrogen powered vehicles.

Having identified the Pioneer as a reliable and integral component to delivering hydrogen fuel to the downstream user, the Group will look to offer purchased Pioneers to customers, whilst also directly operating stations to offer hydrogen as a service.

This will provide the bridging refuelling solution required for small fleets of hydrogen vehicles to kick-start vehicle take-up and enable the economic rapid deployment of the hydrogen ecosystem.

NanoSUN Commercial Director, Lee Juby commented, “The continuing collaboration with Westfalen Group is a testament to the performance and capability of the Pioneer design that was demonstrated during the summer. We look forward to continued collaboration and bringing a commercial solution to market for Westfalen Group customers during 2022”.

Andreas Weisheit, Head of Gases Division at Westfalen Group adds, “After successful demonstration of the Pioneer’s capabilities during our roadshow in summer, we are now looking forward to deploying this safe, reliable and affordable hydrogen refuelling solution to our customers next year. Together with NanoSUN we are able to present the missing piece of the puzzle to bring hydrogen refuelling up to speed”.
